Direction of Understanding
I thought, if I tried hard enough, I might find the way,
to get the point I tried across, in hopes that you might say,
"I see exactly what you mean. I'm glad that you could share."
Although I tried a dozen ways, I still could not get there.
My mind was boggled with attempts to be understood.
The many way to express it seemed to do no good.
A bit of prayer I'd heard one time suddenly seemed grand;
I'd seek less to be understood and more to understand.
